Places to blacklist for birthdays

I really want to extend my thanks to my friends(you know who you are) who did a double birthday celebration for us(you know who you are also).

However after being forced to stand on the chair and go through the embarrassing speech and moment, I’m never going to step in Italiannies ever again (even for a casual lunch). And a reliable source tipped me that TGIF does the same too! Oh gawd.

But the knotting-the-cherry stick-with-your-tongue was entertaining. And the reason behind it is even more intriguing. Hmm…=)

Come to think of it

I haven’t settle my Semester 4 goals yet.

Here goes:

1) to be more participative in dodgeball

2) try to come earlier to classes

3) be more socially-friendly (hmm this is difficult, been waking up feeling anti-social on some days)

4) try to maintain my cgpa

5) spend less (fat hopes la this one)

1U Batting Cages + HELP Intercampus Games Fiesta + abit of pool

25th (Friday)

Wanted to go ice skating, managed to persuade cousin to drive instead coz of lack of cars in my house (remember the mercedes accident?).

Went to Sunway Piramid, found out it was holiday price (ouch) so cousin dropped us at 1 Utama while he left to study with friends.

Went for lunch at Carl’s Jr. My first time. Ate chilli dog, delicious!

Then sis mentioned 1U Batting Cages. Dragged lazy ass there.
It’s actually softball. Quite fun. But spent about Rm10 for two rounds (per round has 15 balls or so). Hmm Wednesday is flat RM3 for each game though. After that, walked around 1 Utama, stopped at FOS, bought a red racerback which I love very much now. Might go back to get a black racerback next time. Also, bought a new rubix cube which I nearly broke too, but this one is easier to turn so I was more patient with it than the previous one.
All in all it was a fun day.

26th (Saturday)

Woke up early. Packed necessary clothing, money and the 100+ drink into bag. Dawdled too long and didn’t eat breakfast. Half walk, half run to college. Supposed to meet with other dodgeballers for the HELP Intercampus Games Fiesta event at Sports Plaza. After breakfast, rushed to get the groups to register and found out we were the first or second group of people or so to turn up so early to register.

Played basketball to pass time. I suck. Got hit in the face by the ball summore. Then walked around to see the other games, like Captainball and Futsal. Ronins A started first. I was in Ronins B. Ronins C was next before Ronins B. B was against Hyenas X! Argh! *dies* When I was the last one standing the others were telling me to step out of the play area(which means I’d be out) and so I did. That was so much better than getting hit by a ball that was going way past the speed limit.

After awhile, went to attempt ping pong. I suck. Can’t even serve, forget about playing the game.

Some ruckus occurred during a  basketball match. Don’t know the details, but I’m sure some people got hurt in the hoo-hah.

I had to pay RM10 to register in the dodgeball team. Waste of money because there wasn’t much control of the leadership board and somehow the dodgeball games kinda stopped halfway. What a waste.

When there was nothing else to do, left for 1 Utama to have lunch, then played a round of softball at Batting Cages again. Then off to an afternoon of pool. Hmm still learning the ropes now, but I’m definitely better. By the time I reached home, it was night. Ate dinner, did some chores like wash the plates and see whether I’m needed for any other chores before settling for the night.

Anyway it was Mom’s second day of work at VFC. Whoa.

The moral of the story is: Never let your young daughter(or son for that matter right gender equality ma wth) drive your mercedes car

Funny story this is. Its a true story, which unfortunately befall upon a family member of mine.

Y’see, my dad was out one night, going to meet up with some relatives for a drink and prolly discuss about something. He wasn’t out very long, because I was stuck in front of the computer attempting to format it when not long after starting the initial process, Dad called to say that he was involved in an accident but he’s fine. Phew! But bad news: Dad’s locked out of his car and his car so happened to be in the middle of a busy junction. Uh oh much?

Rushed to the scene with Mom and sent Dad the spare remote control for his car. It was really in the middle of a junction. It still befuddles me as to why certain car manufacturers(to start of with: Mercedes and certain Toyotas) have to make cars that locks itself after all doors are closed (on the condition that said vehicle is turned on AND irregardless whether ANYONE is in the car or not…)

The accident actually involved 4 cars. 4 cars! zomg. The culprit was seen crying beside her car (Mercedes C200 Kompressor don’t play play ar) while the victims were sorting out the mess, one was initially cursing coz his son got hurt(his car was the first to get hit).

The story was: The guy with the Toyota Altis got hit from the back (he was driving slowly along the road where Poh Kong is on the left of the car. Slowly coz there was a traffic light in front and I assume there are other cars also. After getting hit, his car lurched to the front due to the impact and the driver of the Mercedes swerved right and went on the divider all the way to the traffic lights. Prior to this, my father was waiting behind a bus at the light. When the light turned green, the bus went slowly (coz it was turning) and my father slowly followed behind as well. Unfortunately when my father was turning behind the bus, the Mercedes so happened to have reached the end of the divider, hit the signpost before hitting the side of my father’s car. There’s supposed another car which was involved as well but didn’t care much coz apparently it was just a small scratch or so.

After sorting the towing and the place to lodge a police report (2 police cars came to the scene) the front passenger in the said Mercedes apologized to my father about the accident. Apparently she was trying to stop the car with the handbrake which she couldn’t find. Well, obviously she couldn’t because the Mercedes’ so-called “hand brake” is at the leg area. Left leg, to be precise. Like the clutch of manual cars.

In the meantime, my family’s relying on just one car while my father’s car is in the workshops. Meh.

Ouch! Friendly Dodgeball Match

Last Wednesday, there was a friendly match between KDU Ronins and Taylor’s Hyenas at KDU Auditorium at 4. I was late…prolly about 45 minutes (oops) coz that day was one whirlwind of activities (in the end I took a day off from work).

Had WAD group meeting earlier at abt 3.10pm. Then reality hit us; we aren’t sure what was needed to be done exactly on the group assignment so we decided to ask the lecturer in the next class. Off to the match after that.

The main match was abit boring. I wasn’t chosen ( I didnt mention I wanted to play either coz tired from thinking thru the WAD stuff *sounds like an excuse right*). For awhile I helped the Taylor’s side to get the balls that bounced out back into the court. Basically to ward off the boredom & sleepiness. After getting “picked out” by a Taylorian claiming I was the only  one being used to get balls for them, Agnes came to help, but some Taylorians finally helped to get the balls back in (finally…). In the end, bummed off to the IT lab with Agnes and stoned there for about..hmm…30 minutes(?)

My idea of stoning wasnt just sitting & staring at the computer screen. I started reading up about PHP and how the codes work and stuff. PHP interests me alot! Why I didnt dabbled with it earlier, I dunno =.= prolly coz of my stubborness to just stay with HTML. I am sooooo outdated man. I’ve pretty much made up my mind to put my all in this WAD assignment. I love web programming! But I’m pretty neutral (bordering dislike) towards application programming i.e VB.Net & Java. I can code, but the interest isn’t really there. But thanks to both subjects, I’m not so lost in web programming because the concept is almost similar (in terms of declaring variables and the many semi-colons rules and stuff).

Okay back to the game. After 30 minutes of stoning we went back to the Audi to find the dodgeballers still playing, but not the main match anymore. More like a crazy match. More than 6 ppl on each side, teams not sticking to their own side (ie temp traitors =x) and just…playing.

Agnes & I joined one of the matches. It was crazy! And I was marked by the same Taylorian earlier (the one about the ball). Damn crazy. First I was called “the pink one” coz I was wearing a pink striped top. And then he started using my name. Omg =.= one thing is his accuracy is dang good. Which put my dodging skills to a big test. Kept hearing “hit the pink one! pink one!”. Siao. In the end I still went out. Good game albeit the craziness :D

***

Suddenly thought back about my degree years (see la I’ve been to and seeing Taylor’s-related stuff too much these days). Also suddenly feel literal…

“Only those who have had a taste of that experience shall be able to speak of it with vigour and truth.”

“Only those who has gone through those times will speak of it and whom truly understand.”

Must be the residue of regret somewhere…

“You’re late”

That was the first thing I heard as soon as I stepped into the MPH (Multi Purpose Hall) of Taylor’s Subang.

Yeah, by a whole 3 hours. Better late than never eh? It was the  International Dodgeball Friendly Match held last Saturday and I was too late to watch the All-Star Girls match.

Oh well. I had planned to arrive earlier, but got thwarted by chores so had to delay quite some time. But I never would’ve guessed it’d be a while 3 hours. Great.

Anyway, the match was between the Malaysian Team and the Hong Kong Team. The HK rules were applied, modifying some current rules which means some rules which would’ve been lenient were scraped or not allowed. The timing of the games are also different. There’s no 8-minute games in a match. Instead it is a 20-minute game where each team are supposed to win as many points as possible(eliminating the entire opposing team that is).

There were tense moments, where both teams were holding up for a long time and it seems to take forever to get someone out. Overall the Hyenas did the best by winning 7-4 to the HK Team.

Overall was glad I went to see the event. Seeing different strategies applied by another team(whats more HK) really opens possibilities. There was a strategy where one of the HK players will stand close to the middle line but at the corner as if waiting to be targeted, but oddly enough nobody notices him because he doesn’t seem to be carrying a ball…the secret is he was either hiding a ball up the back of his shirt or holding a ball behind his back. Then when an opposing player comes forward to shoot or has shot, he takes the opportunity to attack the said player. This is one of the best sneak attacks hehe. But to actually risk being near the centre line plus with opposing players attacking near the centre line, he has to be one daring guy. Kudos to him!

Okay off to sleep now

Holidays = Catching-up-on-reading time!

So halfway around the world there is a Megaman Marathon. While I’m here blogging, playing the addictive Restaurant City and Pet Society and all the other games I’ve been playing through the holiday plus finally reviving my reading habit.

Must’ve been sometime during the second week of the holiday my membership at the TTDI Library occured to me. Hey, why not visit the library to see if there’s anything interesting to read? I know the library doesn’t stock up on much of the genre that I favoured (like Twilight, but they do have Harry Potter).

So I took one day to go over there and linger among the shelves. The books tempted me while I was there to study on several occasions, but now I can indulge in my whim hehehe.

The first 3 books i borrowed were:

ferris_once
Once Upon a Marigold – is about a boy who ran away from home, then a troll found him and took care of him till he got older and went off to experience a hopefully more fulfilling life beyond the cafe he grew up in. A story of adventure and romance with a sprinkle of humour.

Products_006_178_9780006178699_m_f

Sydney Sheldon’s works never fails to entertain me. This is is supposedly the sequel to The Other Side of Midnight which I never got the chance to read. This book is about a woman’s survival in the hands of a kind man, but he actually had a complicating relationship with her in the past and she couldn’t remember due to amnesia. However things started to fall apart when she finds out her benefactor isn’t who he actually is.

n132580

I read the  first two pages and fell asleep. Didn’t bother reading further.

nick-hornby-fever-pitch

Another one where I managed to go over the first 3 pages before putting it down because it is SO football-orientated I gave up reading. I don’t know football jargons bah!

9780316606103_388X586

This is the 2nd book in Darren Shan’s Cirque Du Freak series. Couldn’t find the first book but there’s the 2nd and 3rd book in the library. Not bad, albeit rather predictable. I still prefer Harry Potter.

n145093

Apparently a nanny story. It has been made in to a movie, but usually I’d rather read the book because there is no way to fit a whole book into a movie without ruining some parts. Quite witty, and is a first-hand insight in to the job of a nanny and their physical land emotional role in handling a child(or few). Revolves around this girl named Nanny(literally) and how she handles her studies, life and her babysitting job with the X family. When her job began to inch into her studies and her life as well as her overall being, she began thinking whether the job is worth it but for the sake of paying rent and other necessities she stayed in the job. When things began going out of hand she finally breaks it…

Well, you see…

Filed under: Daily Peridotism, Reviews, Special Days, Student Life — `Chelle @ 12:10 am

Okay in another 5 minutes or so I have to get my ass of this floor (yeah the laptop is on a short table so urm pity my butt?)

Today I have been given the task to oversee some house chores (Mom’s been feeling under the weather, as well as my sister, and since my Dad wouldn’t be around late in the afternoon.

*oops left this post open more than 4 hours =.=*

anyway, where was I…

right.

As I was saying, I was assigned to handle house chores. So far so good. Although I can’t say much about dinner. Since I’m pretty useless at cooking simple food (i.e. broiled veggies, simple fried chicken, etc) and other foods I make are pretty much out of budget (i.e. fried rice, fried mee hoon, pizza, savoury pie), decided to just get take-away food. Good ol’ Hokkien fried mee and dunno whats the other one in English (pronounced as Wattan Hor).

Last Saturday, attended the Rave2Save event @ KDU College. The aim was to save the dogs abandoned on Pulau Ketam. Coincidentally there were some pups there from Pulau Ketam itself! And SUPER CUTE OMG xD

There were some clothes and accessries stalls as well as food stalls. Pity I only brought RM15 coz there were some clothes I wanted to get. There were some that would prolly rock my lecturers’ socks haha I mean how cool is it eh you can go to class to show your lecturer that you’re dedicated but at the same time your shirt pisses them off :P

There were also performances which supposed to start at 4pm but it got delayed (bah, Malaysian timing). While lepak-ing around which was more of looking for drinks (you wouldn’t believe it, the drinks stalls were hiding behind all the clothes stalls wthhhh) we got ourselves some “Anything Goes” drink, which actually tasted refreshing o.O although whats inside I have no idea. The popiah stall offered some awesome salad and normal popiahs which I seriously crave now :(

The performances were great! Now if only the lights weren’t giving me such a headache (mostly due to my specs..but that’s another story). Wish I could stay longer, but  had to follow the family out for dinner so left at 6.15pm.

***

I have this nagging pain on my left knee since about a month ago that seems to have “spread” to my left pelvis o.O I hope its nothing bad, when I ask for advice people will just tell me it’s normal and it’s coz I never do any stretching exercises before playing sports. Laziness never brings me anywhere does it.

***

Final exams were alright (alright meaning I was able to finish answering the paper to my satisfaction) except the damned Electronic Commerce where I miscalculated the time for me to start writing and I didn’t have enough time to finish the goddamn paper! But i did put my points down so I won’t lose that much marks BUT GODDAMN IT I COULD’VE ACED THAT PAPER!!

Ah well.

Alright time to update the other blog. Ta.

Done with Semester 3! :D

Filed under: Daily Peridotism, Student Life — `Chelle @ 2:09 pm

Okay, so this is the time where I’d have most likely be screaming “Hip hip hooray! Exams are over and now I can go back to my primal eat, sleep and poop routine! xD”

Unfortunately, boredom decided to sneak in.

I’m so boreddddddddd :(

and broke (work work Monday -.-)

Not that I’m complaining much, but most of my late teen/early 20s life is either study or work. If I ain’t studying, I’m working, and vice versa.

Either that or baking, albeit not as expensive as golf is(golf IS an expensive sport, no?) it does take up a substantial amount of my moolah.

Weird how I’ve considered and did apply at bakeries as baker apprentice but none wanted to hire me. Perhaps I wasn’t convincing, but they seem to want to push me towards being a sales assistant (tell me can being a sales assistant move you up the career tier? -.-) citing “that work’s too hot for you n you might get burned”. Bah humbug.

Now what?

Maybe move down that road not taken? Maybe.

When I’m not playing sports

Filed under: Daily Peridotism, Student Life — `Chelle @ 3:46 pm

I’m pigging out at home eating ba-chang and tau foo fah and homemade goodies and drinking juicy juices (hot days la)

until I think I might not be able to run eventually during sports omg

After playing db for a few days in a row (actually more than just “a few”) these 4 days are like luxury to me, being able to finally take my time to finish off some tutorials (earlier I was like rushing between assignments and db that my brain had to work 5x faster than before)

Unfortunately (as almost always) FB gets in the way and managed to make me into a MafiaWars convert – -|| oh yes did I say Im blogging to kill time waiting for my energy to replenish? :P

Recently, I’ve to choose the subjects I’m to take next semester when a problem cropped up! I wanted to take this one subject Techno, but it’s not available next sem, not until next year March! wtf@&)(&#($&!!

Oh well I guess in the meantime I’d prolly have to see if I can go for internship early then finish up the rest of the subjects next year. Shall ponder over that later.

Okay back to MafiaWars tata :D

Mid-sem break here I come!

After the gruelling exams in which my EC paper is more or less screwed coz I answer using my logic and my logic is phail,

now I can relax, enjoy and bash some butts on the ps2…

how I wish huh.

Well the adventurous side of me my mom decided to take a trip to Taiping, a town in Perak, for a couple of days, and I thought; why not? :)

*thinks of all the food there* *salivates* *slaps self back to reality*

err right, where was I…oh right. So if all goes well, we’ll leave today after Mei’s KDU classroom experience thingy (why don’t they have this in my time??? it’ll make my life choice so much easier wtf).

And *surprise* there’s no bus directly to Taiping! which I find odd. Now there’s a stop either at Simpang, or Kamunting(6km from Taiping). According to a source, we’d be able to easily find a taxi, which, if we want, we can book the whole day (whoa, the taxi’s all ours eh ehehehehe)

Okay, time to finish up some VB stuff, then get one of me sisters back, then figure out a way to get to Taiping FOR ALL THE GLORIOUS FOOD YOU DIDN’T HEAR ME SAY THIS

:D peace out

food fest + “how i wish i had a camera” + braces news

Filed under: Daily Peridotism, Extra-peridot-ness, Reviews, Student Life — `Chelle @ 11:49 am

KDU had a food fest three days ago(Thursday) and it was awesome! xD

Most had prolly read my twitter updates (which is faster, really) that the burrito (Mexican food) was awesome!

Although, the skin (or wrapper) that’s wrapped arnd the filling is bland and looks a tad uncooked o.O perhaps it’s supposed to be that way, I dunno. It reminds me abit of the Meltz that KFC sells.

I really wished I had a camera to take a picture of the burrito AND the delectable jelly that I bought! The jelly is put into those plastic “thingies” similar to a bubble tea container (plastic cup with cover…geddit?)

The jelly consist of 2 layers, and a dollop of whipped cream and bits of chocolate shavings on top. The first jelly layer is red in colour and has a abit of a ribena/blackcurrant taste, with about 2-3 sliced bananas in it. The bottom layer is white(not transparent or opaque) and has this weird(but tasty) mixture in the middle. I suspect its oats+ banana(although I suspect my guess is way off the line).

Might try to replicate this jelly dessert one day when I have the chance. These two weeks are pretty hectic and after all this busy-ness, it’ll be the mid-term exam week.

And then it’ll be break but I have a group project to hand in during the break (coz that subject has no mid-term exam and no mid-term break) :(

Btw, I just had my braces taken off two days ago ^^ am over-the-moon about it! Imagine not having food stuck between your braces or having an awkward smile…bliss :D

Have to get back to my projects now. Tata!
